Info About Nelliyampathy



From the town Nenmara in Palakkad District,the cloud -cared peaks of the majestic Nelliyampathy hill ranges are to be sight behold.The height of these hill ranges are from 467m to 1572m. To reach Nelliyampathy,one has to take the road starting from Nenmara that proceeds to the Pothundy Dam.There are about more than Ten hairpins while travelling.The palakappandi estate is considered as the main land mark of the hill station. It is famous of its old bungalow built on the British Rule.
The pothundy dam is great for its facilities for boating and a nice picnic spot.the cold winds cools our mind.As the height increases the temperature decreases and view point increases. Palakkad district is visible from the top. 


 Yellow Bamboo.On the way up, those interested in bio farming can take a close look at the privately managed farms and also vast expanses of tea estates managed by different plantation companies. The hills of Nelliyampathy are also well known for its orange cultivation.

Privately owned hotels and resorts are located at various points, as one goes up the hills of Nelliyampathy. The bio-farms located here are a major landmark as one proceeds up before reaching the topmost point at Palagapandi estate. The estate has a quaint bungalow, built during the period of the British rule in India, and has now been converted into a private owned resort. At Kaikatty, a community hall is available, which is usually used as a base by those interested in trekking.


Not far away from Palagapandy is Seetharkundu where one can have a fantastic valley view, and a 100 m high waterfall providing an added attraction. From Palagapandy, one can trek or go by jeep to reach Mampara; another breathtaking vantage point at Nelliyampathy. The area in and around Palagapandy estate has tea, cardamom and coffee plantations with adjoining hills allowing one to catch a glimpse of the wildlife in the form of Indian gaur, elephants, leopards, giant squirrel etc. and is also a paradise for birdwatchers.

Nearest airport: Coimbatore, about 55 km from Palakkad.

While you are in Palakkad , you are only around 50 km away from the hill resort of Nelliyampathy, well known for its luscious oranges and  wild life trails among many other reasons. A drive along the hair pen bends will be a visual delight as it offers some of the best snap shot moments for you in the form of lush green orchards, paddy fields, rolling valleys and tumbling waterfalls. The pleasant climate and the breath taking natural finery do attract many tourists from far and wide; however, Nelliyampathystill remains one of the lesser known hills stations that make it comparatively quiet and tranquil. Nelliyampathy is a popular trekking spot. 
Surely Palakkad tour packages include a trip to Silent Valley National Park, which is spread over an area of 90 sq. km . It is the only remaining evergreen forest in the Western Ghats and is home to many endangered animals like the lion tailed macaques.

Beauty Of Moonar

Munnar, The Kashmir of the south is blessed with picturesque waterfalls and streams, which refreshes one's mind. The greenery along its side is another beauty of the streams and waterfalls.
The exotic and natural beauty of the flower plants in Munnar has always attracted the travellers and tourists across the world. There are around 15,000 flowering plant species in Munnar. The flower nurseries in Munnar has the profuse growth of orchids and marigold plants. this is one of the flower.
Kerala tea gardens are large and offer beautiful scenery to the people. 
If you're travelling from Munnar you'll find a sea of these gardens spread over miles across Nilgiri mountain range. Some tea gardens allows people of visit their factories for a fee to see the whole process to tea making, you'll not miss much if you don't...

Great Indian Hornbill


The Great Hornbill (Buceros bicornis) also known as Great Indian Hornbill or Great Pied Hornbill, is one of the larger members of the hornbill family.it is very great with a 152 cm (60 in) wingspan and a weight of 2.15–4 kg (4.7-8.8 lbs).




It's neck is like a long pipe.
